I am a licensed therapist who is deadly curious about what you want to say but can’t, what you want to be but won’t, and what would unfold out of you if we could together tend to the parts that are hard to bear— without judgment and without a goal for what comes next.

There is a reason you have been bottling up precious parts of you.

Maybe those parts were rejected when you showed them to someone else many years ago. Maybe you learned that discarding your own needs to focus on others earned you love and acceptance, so you got good at that …and forgot those other precious parts of you even existed. Maybe our society’s biases made you feel less than others, and kept you out of real growth and opportunities that you needed.

In therapy with me, it is my goal that you will be heard. That you will be believed. That you will be encouraged, comforted, validated, and held. And it is from this safer space that you will once again look at the long-hidden precious parts of you, and together we will see

how you want to unfold from here.

Working With Shea

I received my Masters degree in Counseling from California State University Fullerton with an award for academic excellence, and completed my undergraduate work at Cornell University, earning a BA in Biology.

My therapeutic training has included work at Beach Cities LGBT Therapy, The LGBTQ Center Orange County, and the Open Door Center for Integrative Healing. In addition to seeing clients in session, I have been a guest speaker at several OC and LA area PFLAG meetings to work with parents of queer teens. For five years I have been supporting a wide range of clients seeking wholeness. As a therapist, I work from a Humanistic foundation and a Feminist lens, with a focus on attachment wounds, inner child work, parts work, mindfulness, and self-acceptance. I strive to be anti-racist in my work and have had training in using a multicultural lens towards myself, my clients, and the field of therapy. I am a licensed therapist (LMFT#135697).

My Background

Other Things About Me

I love Star Wars and am currently rewatching The Mandalorian and Rebels.

I probably have a Taylor Swift lyric for most of your emotional moments in session but I promise only to share them when they’re bursting out of me.

I have dogs and I co-parent teenagers; we do puzzles, go on road trips, and run around dog parks.

Folk songs like Puff the Magic Dragon and anything with a tight, three part harmony makes me cry.

I’m queer and non-binary and I knit!

Actual quote from one of my own therapy sessions ten years ago:

Me: Wait but if we’re uncovering all this sadness and erasure I felt as a little kid, why did I tell you in my first session that I had “a perfectly happy childhood?”

My Therapist: Because happy was the one emotion you were allowed to have.

Here’s to unfolding ourselves enough to be present to the full spectrum of our powerful emotions!
